According to a new trade report actor Dave Bautista is to join both the Highlander reboot and Road House 2 as villains. As per Deadline it looks like we have our third major casting for the Highlander reboot from Chad Stahelski. Already cast are Henry Cavill as Connor and Russell Crowe as Ramirez.
‘Bautista will star opposite Henry Cavill in Stahelski’s revival of the 1980s classic swordsman movie. We hear he’s playing The Kurgan, a character made famous by Clancy Brown in the original Sean Connery-Christopher Lambert film.’
The Kurgan is the bad guy, an immortal, but evil, and if the reboot goes anything like the original, the race will come down to Bautista’s Kurgan and Cavill’s McCloud. I think outside of the live interest, there’s no other major roles to be cast in the film. Of course, we have no idea how closely the reboot will be to the original. Therefore, there could be important roles still to fill that didn’t exists in the original.
Clancy Brown was suitably disturbed as The Kurgan. I loved his antics (apart from the potential ritual killing/abuse of a call girl) in the modern day setting.

Additionally, in the same article the trade says Bautista is also joining Road House 2.
‘Bautista joins Road House 2 opposite Jake Gyllenhaal who is coming back as ex-UFC fighter Dalton from a script by Will Beall (Bad Boys: Ride or Die). Road House 2 is produced by Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Gartner, Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories Productions with Josh McLaughlin executive producing. As we first told you, Guy Ritchie is no longer directing, rather Nobody’s lya Naishuller.’
Loved the original with Patrick Swayze, haven’t seen the reboot yet and didn’t hear good things about it myself.
