Some Star Wars Barside Buzz says that Dave Filoni’s already announced MandoVerse movie may become a limited series instead. As you know Filoni has been promoted since this movie was announced. Also, whilst never stated officially, it seems like the movie was supposed to be the climax of the MandoVerse TV shows. However, things have changed since the movie was revealed.
Filoni is now co-president of Lucasfilm, as Kathleen Kennedy leaves her post. Additionally, we have a movie releasing this May from the MandoVerse. The Mandalorian and Grogu may be a new story, or an adaptation of what was supposed to be The Mandalorian Season 4, we don’t know? However, a new rumor suggests that if The Mandalorian and Grogu is not a success, there is a plan to pivot the climax into a limited series for Disney+.
There is some misreporting going around about what Daniel RPK claimed to his Patreon subs. I therefore decided to quote him exactly here for clarity.
‘I hear that Ahsoka Season 3 isn’t greenlit yet and may never happen. If The Mandalorian & Grogu movie flops, the planned Heir to the Empire film will instead become a limited series.’

I’m not sure if that movie/series will be called Heir to the Empire, though it was rumored some time ago. I’m also not sure there was ever a plan for an Ahsoka Season 3. However, I could of course be wrong/misinformed there.
Let’s see what comes up next rumor wise? We are definitely in a transition period with Star Wars. Frankly I’m not sure anything announced under Kennedy (past Starfighter) is guaranteed to happen. Though, it does seem like the Simon Kinberg trilogy will go ahead, but it’s a while away yet so let’s see.
