Prime Video is bringing the laughs this spring with the long-awaited return of comedy veteran David Spade. Today, the streamer officially announced Dandelion, Spade’s first stand-up special since 2022’s Nothing Personal, will premiere globally on May 6 in over 240 countries and territories.
Known for his dry wit and razor-sharp sarcasm, Spade is back in top form in Dandelion, taking on everything from the hazards of air travel to the awkwardness of charity auctions—and even the evolution of adult entertainment. The new special promises a fresh dose of Spade’s signature humor, packed with the kind of biting observations that made him a household name.
Spade, an Emmy and Golden Globe nominee, became a breakout star during his time on Saturday Night Live, before transitioning into a successful film and television career. He earned critical acclaim—and a devoted fanbase—with hits like Tommy Boy, Joe Dirt, Black Sheep, The Emperor’s New Groove, and the long-running sitcom Just Shoot Me!, where his performance as Dennis Finch earned him multiple award nominations.
While he’s stayed busy with his sold-out I Got A Feel For It stand-up tour, Spade has also found success in the podcasting world. He co-hosts the smash-hit podcast Fly on the Wall alongside fellow SNL alum Dana Carvey. The show, which dives into behind-the-scenes stories from SNL with guests like Paul McCartney, Tom Hanks, Tina Fey, and Lorne Michaels, took home the 2024 iHeartRadio Podcast Award for “Best Comedy Podcast.” The duo also launched a spin-off podcast, Superfly, focused on pop culture.

In addition to starring in Dandelion, Spade directed the special and served as a producer alongside Marc Gurvitz, Alex Murray, and John Irwin. He also recently wrapped production on the feature film Busboys, which he co-wrote and stars in with comedian Theo Von.
With Dandelion, fans can expect the veteran funnyman to deliver the kind of no-holds-barred comedy that has made him a mainstay in American pop culture for decades. Don’t miss Spade’s return to the stand-up spotlight when the special drops exclusively on Prime Video this May.
