Demonic Trailer Has Neill Blomkamp Shifting Into Supernatural Genre

Demonic - Neill Blomkamp

Neill Blomkamp for years is a master of sci-fi and special effects. His first feature film District 9 opened many eyes to his ability of merging the science fiction world with reality. Then he repeated his directorial styles in the sci-fi films Elysium and Chappie.

Now Neill Blomkamp is entering a different genre entirely with the supernatural world with Demonic. It still features his signature special effects to merge fantasy and reality.

The film stars Carly Pope (Popular, Elysium), Chris William Martin (Supergirl, The Vampire Diaries), and Michael Rogers (Siren).

Here’s the official synopsis:

A young woman unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades old rift between mother and daughter are revealed.

Although Neill Blomkamp hasn’t directed a feature film since 2015 with Chappie, he kept busy with his special effects studio Oats Studios. He pushed out several shorts, which you can watch on the Oats Studios YouTube channel. These shorts experimented with special effects as he bides his time for the next big project, which looks like with Demonic. Some of the great shorts are Kapture, Zygote, Firebase, and Kapture.

As for Demonic, it has a little bit of sci-fi that seemingly blurs virtual reality with the creature features he is known for. Can’t wait for this next film from Neill Blomkamp.
