Maybe Destiny 2 story isn’t dead yet? We have a trailer for Destiny 2: The Collection, plus Skeletor reacts to the end of service as a massive show of force from fans suggests a future. If you are unaware, Bungie announced that yesterday, June 9th would be the final Live-Update to Destiny 2. Not an unexpected move, but what was unexpected was news that there’s no Destiny 3 in development.
You can find my previous coverage of the fan backlash in the related section below. However the recent Sony State of Play was spammed by constant comments for fans asking for Destiny 3 and so was the Xbox one, for some odd reason.
Many fans had vowed to return to show Sony they would come back for a D3 if they make it. Would they all turn up? We’ll get to that below.
Fist off, here is the trailer for Destiny 2: The Collection, which is a price of around $25 for everything the game has from beginning to end. The trailer tell you the details better than I could, so check it out.
I have to say given the recent changes made in what has been a god tier final update, this is incredibly good value for money. There are thousands of hours worth of relevant content that all drops relevant and current loot finally. It’s a collections gamer’s dream now. It’s earnable and viable form the last decade almost.

Next up and since this may be the end, I am sharing the wonderful Tom Christie’s Skeletor and He-Man videos he makes about Destiny. This one may be one of his best yet and accurately describes the entire situation we find ourselves, in a way only Skeletor can. (Warning for bad language if you dislike that.)

However, perhaps there really is some hope. The new update launched yesterday and as fans had hoped, for the first time ever, they crashed the servers. According to reports, anything from 2.25 – 2.5 Million (varying reports) unique log-ins happened yesterday on Destiny 2 within the first 2-3 hours of the update going live. That’s across PC. and consoles and if all of those alone bought a $70 Destiny 3 then Sony gets $175 Million back. That’s about what the game development would cost. However there are many, many gamers who have said they would not come back for D2, but would buy a D3, so you are probably looking at an instant profit form basic game sales alone.
Steam had Destiny 2 at number 7 on the charts with at one point 166k concurrent players, and that’s PC only, the game is more popular on console. The Destiny 2: The Collection bundle was also the top selling game on Steam as of last night. Does that sound like a dead game to you?
