Talk about a slow, tortuous death. The Mexican film Disappeared Completely (Desaparecer por Completo) portrays a victim suffering from a catastrophic curse that horrifies him to do anything for survival.

The film is directed by Luis Javier Henaine. It stars Harold Torres, Teté Espinoza, Fermin Martinez, Vicky Araico, Norma Reyna, Quetzalli Cortés.

Here is the full synopsis:

Santiago Mendoza is the best tabloid crime photographer in Mexico City, but his profession has made him insensitive and incapable of showing affection to his wife Marcela. One night, Santiago intercepts an emergency call and despite the police’s warnings, he infiltrates a disturbing crime scene. Soon after, he begins to suffer a mysterious illness that makes him lose, one-by-one, his five senses. Without knowing what’s wrong with him or why, Santiago must find a solution to this affliction, before the world knows he disappears completely.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta had an enlightening conversation with director Luis Javier Henaine. They delved into the origins of the story, its intriguing evolution over the years, and the profound influence of Mexican curses and exorcism.

Luis Javier Henaine is a Mexican screenwriter, producer, and director who graduated from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. He made his debut feature film with Tiempos Felices (Happy Times) with the world premiere at Morelia International Film Festival. In 2019, his sophomore feature film Solteras (Bachelorettes: Ready to Mingle) premiered at the Guadalajara International Film Festival. Both films were in the top ten highest-grossing Mexican films.

Desaparacer por Completo (Disappear Completely) was the official selection at Fantastic Fest and Morelia International Film Festival. It is now streaming on Netflix today.
