Armor Wars was one of the surprise announcements of the Disney Investor Day. The show will star Don Cheadle as War Machine, but outside of that we know very little, Fans do expect Riri Williams to show up, and likewise we may expect Rhodey to show up in Ironheart. After that, all bets are off for now. Though. filming is expected to happen within the next month or so, so we may find out more soon.
Thankfully, Don Cheadle has teased a little bit more of what to expect. Though, understandably this is hardly particularly revealing, but it gives us something to go on for now. Here is what he said when Cheadle recently spoke with BroBible.com.
“The death of Tony Stark, I’m pretty sure, will play a role in the series. Where we’ve been sort of progressing Rhodey—even in the last film where he’s now up again and he’s now walking again and he’s now mobile again—so as the technology continues to develop and we keep making innovations in the suit and what happens, I imagine there’s gonna be another elevation and another way that we’re going to keep digging into that part of Rhodey. But really, figuring out a way to bridge what’s happening in the comic books with what’s happening on screen in the MCU and how we’re going to make those worlds work, that’s really exciting.”

Any fan would expect the death of Tony to have a major impact on both Rhodey, and the future of the Iron Man technology. Of course, this is where fans expect Riri Williams to come in handy. One would guess that Williams will become the new tech wizard in the MCU. Though, she will have serious competition from Shuri over in Wakanda. I wonder whether Tony’s absence will initially create a new battle for control of the Iron Man technology? Could Justin Hammer and others make a return. Could Rhodey be told to give up his armor to the U.S. military?
I guess we will have to wait and see? What do you think of Cheadle’s comments and what do you want to see from Armor Wars? Thoughts below as always.
