Fede Alvarez Left Alien: Romulus Sequel Over Disagreement With Ridley Scott | Barside Buzz

According to a new piece of Barside Buzz, Alien: Romulus director Fede Alvarez left the sequel due to a disagreement with producer Ridley Scott.

According to a new piece of Barside Buzz, Alien: Romulus director Fede Alvarez left the sequel due to a disagreement with producer Ridley Scott. Scott of course was the director of the original Alien. Though not the creator/writer of the film, his vision made it an all time classic. However, it could be argued that it only became a franchise with Jim Cameron’s Aliens, which Scott had zero input or involvement with.

Scott didn’t become involved in the franchise again until he got the chance to make Prometheus. This was Scott’s chance to shape the beginning of the story and the lore to his vision. However, Prometheus, nor it’s sequel Alien: Covenant were particularly successful or that good in my opinion.

Scott also famously pumped the breaks on Neil Blomkamp’s idea to reboot the franchise with a sequel to Aliens which ignored Alien 3 and brought back Hicks and Newt alongside franchise star Sigourney Weaver.

Now according to the rumors, Scott is meddling again and seems to still have control over what does and des not happen with the Alien franchise. According to reliable scooper ViewerAnon, a disagreement between Scott and Alien: Romulus director Fede Alvarez is why the latter has left directorial duties on that sequel to someone else.

“Curious when we’ll learn the real truth, but I heard Fede and Ridley were butting heads A LOT and that led to Fede’s exit. A friend I trust told me Fede wanted to bring Fassbender back as David, and Ridley shut him down pretty hard.”

ViewerAnon is far better placed source than the one being quoted in the rumor he replied to. However, it does appear the case that David Johnson won’t be back for the sequel as his star has grown since.

There are rumors, but for now we wait for an announcement about who will direct the Alien: Romulus sequel. But how good will it be id there’s no Johnson and the writer (Alvarez) was prevented from using the character he wanted?

If I was Disney I’d be looking to get rid of Scott as a producer on this franchise, it’s not like he owns it. The worst decision made in this franchise was killing of Hicks and Newt in Alien 3. The second worst decision was Scott stopping Blomkamp from giving us fans the sequel we all actually wanted. The third worse decision was trying to explain all the origins of the Xenomorph. You can see where I’m going with this.

Aliens is one of the best sequels ever made and it turned  this is not a franchise. That’s where the potential for me is and in my opinion Aliens is a better film than Alien, sorry Ridley.

What do you think of this rumor? Do you think this is why Alvarez left Alien: Romulus? Thoughts below.
