The final Superman trailer is here as tickets went on sale yesterday, plus James Gunn explains how long Metahumans have existed in the DCU. Let’s start with that new trailer. Tickets are now on sale and Fandango has revealed that first day tickets for Superman have outsold The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
One of those factor may be that this is the best trailer we’ve had for the film yet below. Enjoy.
Meanwhile, an interview below that Fandango hosted with the cast and Gunn to promote the movie. There’s a lot covered in here, like why in the end Corsenswet persuaded Gunn to go with trunks. However, Gunn also took the opportunity to explain how familiar Metahumans are in this DCU.

“We’re introducing a whole new world, which is a lot of fun. We’re in an alternate reality where superheroes have existed for 300 years, and now we’re just picking up on the story of one particular superhero three years after he comes on the scene, who happens to be the most powerful metahuman of all time.”

So, Metahumans have existed for 300 years in this Universe. Superman, the most powerful of these Metahumans, has been on the scene for 3 years at the time of the movie’s events.
I actually really like this decision from Gunn. Trying to explain where everyone comes from is really tough to pull off as the MCU has found. Don’t get me wrong, I love the way the MCU unfolded also, with Iron Man starting a chain of events where the MCU differs from our world. But, the DCU, it was never really our world was it? Fictional cities and Nations and alternate history. So I like that the DCU is just a world like the comics where we drop in at a certain starting point. It’s a different approach to the MCU and like that they are different.
Not every hero or villain will need an origin story unless that’s the story the writer is looking to tell.
