Iron Fist Season 1 may be one of the worst parts of the Marvel and Netflix shows, but Finn Jones got better in both acting and fighting for Season 2. So it should be no surprise that he’s landing other jobs. One such job is for the role of Malcolm Bright in the upcoming Fox pilot, Prodigal Son.
Bright is a criminal psychologist who works as a forensic profiler for the NYPD. He has some character flaws, a dark sense of humor, but is compassionate. These traits make sense when you find out his dad, played by Michael Sheen, is an incarcerated serial killer. Malcolm has a manipulative mother and a normal sister that affect his life, but it is the father trying to reconnect with his son that may play the biggest role in his life.
I am not the world’s biggest crime drama fan. I used to watch Law & Order back in the day and occasionally watch Criminal Minds with my wife, but I prefer cooking competitions and comedy on my small screen. This idea sounds interesting though. It’s billed as a drama, but there will be plenty of opportunities for dark humor, which is my favorite type of humor. I do hope this does not become a type of Dexter though. I want to see Malcolm remain the good guy through and through.
The show is being written by Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver and produced by Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schecter. The pilot is directed by Lee Toland Krieger.
