First Look At New Harry Potter In Costume As 2027 Release Revealed

We have our first look at the new Harry (Dominic McLaughlin) in costume as a 2027 release date revealed by HBO for their Harry Potter series. There have been some reports that Season 1 and 2 would be filming back to back. That would cover the first two books of the series, but those reports are as yet unconfirmed.

What we do know now, is that Season 1 of Harry Potter will release on HBO in 2027.

We also have some newly announced cast members to round out a few parts vital to the book. These include Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.

We also have new department heads, including Adriano Goldman (Director of Photography), Cate Hall (Hair and Makeup Designer), Paul Herbert (Stunt Coordinator), Mark Holt (SFX Supervisor), Mara LePere-Schloop (Production Designer), Naomi Moore (Set Decorator), John Nolan (Creature Effects Design Supervisor), Alexis Wajsbrot (VFX Supervisor), and Dom Sidoli (VFX Producer).

The cast announcement is on Instagram. However, you can check a repost of said new cast, plus that image of Harry below courtesy of CBM‘s Josh Wilding.

I like the look of everyone cast so far for this series. The real test will be whether this works as an episodic TV series. Will they just split the book into 8 parts, or add in some episodic structure to the show?

The real questions is, will it be worthy of being made even though we have very decent adaptations on film already? I’m not sure any of us can determine this until we see Season 1. There are definitely some aspects of the later, larger books I felt sad to skip in the films, especially Voldemort’s backstory in Half Blood Prince. There wasn’t much I’d be pushing to add in to the first two books however, so we’ll see.

What do you think of the first look at Harry Potter in costume? Will you be checking this out on release in 2027? Thoughts below.
