Today was what the pop culture world has come to know as Batman Day. An annual tradition where comic book shops and bookstores celebrate the Dark Knight. This year’s edition of Batman Day is a lot more important as it’s part of a year long celebration by DC of Batman due to the fact that he turned 80 earlier this year. There are events all over the world that include the lighting of Bat signals in various cities and a 5K run in Los Angeles. Many people on social media have been showing their love for the Bat via different posts.
Not to be left out is the popular Epic Games’ online title Fortnite who released all new Batman-themed items and turned part of it’s map into Gotham City. The announcement was made this morning via YouTube, you can watch the clip above! In the brief clip we can see that players would be able to use items like grapple guns, homing explosive Batarangs as well as new cosmetics from the shop. Until October 6th, Fortnite players would find that Titled Town will be stylized like Gotham City. Featuring such landmarks from the DC Universe like Gotham City Police Department Head Quarters, Wayne Industries Tower and the Monarch Theater. Players in that area would be able to use Batman cowls that give them unlimited glider redeploy. If you complete the Batman themed challenges offered by the game, you can earn rewards like sprays and a glider, in which you’d be able to use items like Bat Signals and defusing Joker themed gas canisters.
I have never been able to get into Fortnite, but my daughter and niece are big fans, so when I walked into the living room watching them play it Gotham City as Batman it caught me by surprise. I got excited for a moment as I thought that they had somehow got their hands on Gotham City Imposters, which was a really cool first person shooter multiplayer video game that came out back in 2012 made by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
