EXCLUSIVE: In the mid-2000s, it seemed as though the magic of Disney animated films was gone. Now, over a decade later, their animation game is as strong as it’s ever been, and the studio itself alternates between non-musical original stories and musical stories based on fairy tales. It goes without saying that perhaps the most popular one to date is the Frozen franchise, which currently spans two movies.
Of course, the movies have done well because of the strength of the characters and stories, but one can’t understate the importance of the music, especially in a world where songs like “Let it Go” and “Into the Unknown” have permeated pop culture. The masterminds behind that are none other than husband-wife duo Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.

Given their success, you can imagine that the world is pretty much at their disposal, right? So, in a recent interview with our own Nancy Tapia, they were asked if they had an interest in working on in some capacity.
“So, Star Wars for sure,” Robert told us. “I mean, Star Wars is my very favorite thing ever, so I would love to be involved with it one day. It’s still going, if you haven’t heard.”
But the question remains…how can a songwriter be involved in Star Wars? Well, it’s not out of the question. As recently as The Force Awakens, Lin-Manuel Miranda did some work on that Maz Kanata cantina song. So long as the characters frequent places with music playing, there’s always an opportunity, right?
How do you see Robert Lopez somehow working on the Star Wars franchise in the future? Let us know your thoughts down below!
