Mando Season 3 hits this Summer, impossible no? Yet that is what star Giancarlo Esposito says in a recent interview. Despite Esposito being a far better source than me, or any other outlet, I think we can safely say the actor has gotten a little mixed up here. There seems absolutely no way Mando Season 3 can hit this Summer. In fact, it’s Andor we expect to see this summer from Star Wars on Disney+.
Esposito appeared on The Rich Eisen Show and you won’t have to scroll for the moment this quote comes up. It is the first question Esposito answers. Asked how long Eisen’s family would have to wait for more Mandalorian, Esposito was perhaps a little premature with his answer?
“You’ll get it soon, You’ll get it soon. I have a few things to do, in regards to that, to put some finishing touches on what I do. But I believe it’ll be some time this Summer. No dates set yet, but coming soon.”
Here’s the thing, we already know from Mando S1, and S2, roughly how long to expect between wrapping filming and release. Unless something has changed drastically, then that’s roughly how long post-production takes on one of these shows. The Book of Boba Fett was equally as consistent in terms of timescale. The one that has been slightly different so far has been Andor. That show is rumored to have a far longer opening season and we also know it was the Star Wars show filmed mostly on location whereas the others have employed Stagecraft/The Volume, and mostly filmed in LA.

For me, the earliest we could see Mando S3 is late October/November. However I actually do not think we will get the show until some time in December. If I had to give an order of the next few shows we will see, it would be as follows.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Bad Batch S2, Andor, Mando S3, Ahsoka, High Republic show, The Acolyte. That’s based purely on production schedules and that doesn’t always tell the story, so this is just a guess. Maybe Esposito just got a bit mixed up, or maybe he forgot how long post is on a show like this?
Either way, despite Giancarlo Esposito saying Mando Season 3 hits this Summer, I really don’t think that’s even remotely possible to pull off. Thoughts below as always.
