Grace Beedie Credits Her Competitive Figure Skating to Landing Lead Role in Netflix’s Zero Chill [Exclusive Interview]

Grace Beedie has two personal loves for herself—ice skating and acting. She never knew those two worlds would merge together in Netflix’s Zero Chill.

The teen comedy-drama, Zero Chill is about a pair of teenage twins, who moved to England for one of the sibling’s trainings in hockey. As the brother pursues hockey, the sister finds herself in the position to compete in figure skating in a foreign environment and under the shadow of her sibling. The series follows the twins’ coming-of-age story in sports, family, and friendships.

Beedie plays the lead character Kayla MacBentley, alongside Dakota Taylor playing Mac MacBenley and her brother. The rest of the cast includes Jeremias Amoore, Anastazie Chocholata, Leonardo Fontes, Jade Ma, Sarah-Jane Potts, Doug Rao, Tanja Ribic, and Oscar Skagerberg. Kirstie Falkous and John Regier created the series.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with actress Grace Beedie on her role in Zero Chill. She told us about her previous career in competitive figure skating helped her get the role and prepare for the action sequences. Also, she discusses her experiences on production overseas, the cast, and how the pandemic shutdown stopped and restarted the production.

Grace Beedie’s Zero Chill is her first major leading role in any project. She had a supporting role in the holiday Hallmark movie Five Star Christmas last year that also starred Bethany Joy Lenz and Victor Webster. She made an appearance in Freeform’s witch drama Motherland: Fort Salem, in which she played the seventeen-year-old version of General Sarah Alder. Also, she will be seen in the upcoming television movie Time Capsule Romance as Martha.

Zero Chill is currently streaming today on Netflix.
