Guy Pearce can play anything.
For years, he played so many different roles convincingly that there probably not many challenging roles left he can’t tackle. In 1997, Pearce burst into American cinema as a determined detective Ed Exley in L.A. Confidential. A few years later, he solidified his reputation with American audiences with Leonard putting his memory back together in Memento.
Ever since then, he played a military man in The Hurt Locker, a monarch in The King’s Speech, a supervillain in Iron Man 3, or even a galactic dreamer in Prometheus. There’s no role too big or too small for Guy Pearce.
For The Seventh Day, it was a supernatural horror film that he played Father Peter, a veteran exorcist who takes a protégé under his wing. There are very few horror projects that came across his way. And, he gladly spoke with LRM Online about his approach and process of treating every movie as a drama rather than its specific genre.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Renowned exorcist Father Peter (Guy Pearce) teams up with a rookie apprentice for his first day of training. As they plunge deeper into hell on Earth, the lines between good and evil blur and their own demons emerge.
The rest of the cast includes Vadhir Derbez, Stephen Lang, Brady Jenness, Robin Bartlett, and Keith David. Justin P. Lange wrote and directed the movie.
