October is the month of scary movies and TV shows and this year none come bigger than Halloween from director David Gordon Green and producer Danny McBride.
Halloween 2018 will serve as a direct sequel to the classic original from 1978, which is my personal favorite horror movie of all time. Will the movie work better than the now non-canon countless other sequels (it wouldn’t be hard)? You can check out the review below from LRM‘s own Fox Troilo before you decide for yourself.

To promote the movie which releases domestically on October 19, the director and producer have taken part in an AMA on Reddit, you can catch the full conversation HERE if you want to go deeper.
One of the interesting questions and answers that caught my attention was when the pair were asked what other horror franchises they would love to remake if they had the chance. Here is the exchange
David, if you ever decide to make another horror movie are there any other subgenres you’d like to explore besides slashers? Also can you please somehow get Jody Hill to direct Friday The 13th? He’d f*****g slay it.
DGG: I’d like to make a little critters/ghoulies movies, and I’ll get to work on Jody right away.
DM: When I was a boy I asked my parents for Goonies for Christmas and they gave me a copy of Ghoulies, never gotten over it.
I have to relate a little to Danny McBride’s experience here, as a kid, I managed to rent Ghoulies thinking it would be some sort of Gremlins type movie. I don’t think I finished it.
But I do think that something like this really could work. Neither film was anything more than cult classics and I’d bet the average movie-going audience these days have never even heard much about either of 80’s budget movies.
However, finding the right tone between dark comedy and outright scares is a tricky task, and if I had to see a movie franchise like this rebooted then Gremlins would be number one for me. The original, and still the best of that genre of movie.
Would you like to see a Critters or a Ghoulies remake/reboot? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
