Talk about body switching.
In the Vietnamese action film Head Rush, a dying man seemingly gains heroic skills after inserting his head into a body from a mysterious donor. Suddenly, he becomes a hero, but the body’s past enemies start to catch up with him.
The cast includes Cuong Seven, Tran This Nha Phuong, and Ngoc Anh Vu. Vietnamese-American director Victor Vu directs the film (Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass, Vengeful Heart) and action directed by Vincent Wang (The Great Wall, Now You See Me 2).
Here is the long synopsis for Head Rush:
A man dying of a terminal illness receives an experimental medical treatment and soon discovers he has superhuman powers. But the origins of the treatment are intertwined in a dark history that becomes unraveled in his life.

Many Asian martial arts films tend to come from the East Asian markets with China, Japan, Korea, and Hong Kong. Once in a while, good martial arts action films come out of Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
With this Vietnamese film, the action sequences are in good ends with Vincent Wang with his good work in some of the biggest American action blockbusters with The Great Wall, Edge of Tomorrow, 47 Ronin, World War Z, The Bourne Ultimatum, and Captain: The First Avenger.
It will be Wang’s first Vietnamese project that teams him with one of Vietnam’s top filmmakers.
Of course, we’ll have to watch the film on how science can be explained with body switching by simply exchanging the entire heads rather than brains. Then again, that’s why it’s called science fiction.
Head Rush is available digitally on December 27, 2002.
