The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer is finally here, officially, and it teases an emotional finale for this team of Guardians. Check out the trailer for the final instalment of James Gunn’s Guardians trilogy below.
There is much about the plot of Guardians 3 that we knew already. An Earth-like world populated by hybrids. The High Evolutionary as the villain. Rocket’s backstory, and the return of Gamora. Yet, despite all this we really have very little idea of what the plot of Guardians 3 will really be about. Tonally though, I feel like Gunn is teasing this will be an emotional finale for this team. There have been rumors for a long time that one of more Guardians may not survive till the end of the movie. Fans are convinced and sad, as they think Rocket is the most likely candidate. If so, which is unconfirmed btw, then that line Rocket delivers saying he’s done with running has some weight to it.
As you’d expect from a Guardians movie, this one looks cosmic and colorful. However so far there is definitely less humor shown in this trailer. Perhaps that’s another indication that this one won’t be all laughs and jokes?

We also got our first brief glimpse at Will Poulter as Adam Warlock. Right now I’m still unsure as to how Warlock fits within this picture and where he goes from here. Ultimately though, I really liked this trailer. Guardians 3 was already an opening weekend movie for me anyway, but I think the trailer will have helped sell the movie to fans on the fence for sure.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theatres on May 5th, 2023. That’s just over 6 months from now, so not long to wait until we see the finished product. Right now, all I can say is that it looks great and I can’t wait to see it.
