When Fate of the Furious hit theaters, I had a hell of a time. But it became clear that two of the main crew stood out much more than the others: we’re talking about Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Shaw. These two were met to co-lead an action film together, and now with the latest spin-off to the Fast and Furious franchise, Hobbs and Shaw, we finally are getting those pesky other leads out of the way.
However, for as long as we’ve known about this, we’ve pretty much used one image for the film — the one from Fate of the Furious where the two are ready to go fisticuffs in their orange jumpsuits. Now, thanks to Mr. Johnson, we have an honest-to-goodness first look at the two leads ready to go at it. You can check out the image and Johnson’s caption below.

“FIRST LOOK: HOBBS & SHAW.
We either gonna get along or we gonna get it on.
Fuck getting along 😈
Great first week of shooting our Fast & Furious spin-off, “HOBBS & SHAW” with my ace @jasonstatham.
We’re havin’ a blast disrupting the norm to deliver something fresh, cool, fun and bad ass for the fans.

Not sure if Johnson meant fight when he said “get it on,” but I’ll be damned if the two don’t look like they’re ready to jump each other’s bones. But whether or not this turns into one of the most fun action-packed films of 2019 or an unexpected Skinemax special, rest assured I’ll be down to watch either way.
In all seriousness, though, it’s good to see these two sharing the screen again, and no matter what Tyrese Gibson says, I think this is a good step for the franchise.
