HBO has announced that House of the Dragon, a Game of Thrones prequel series, is now underway. HBO has been on Twitter throughout the day giving us lots of fire emojis and now, they have revealed some news. They will be filming the prequel series soon with a photo that looks like a table read.

HBO has revealed that Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Eve Best, and Sonoya Mizuno have joined along with Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen.
Get To Know The Characters
According to official character bios on the HBO website:
Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen. Viserys was chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal. A warm, kind, and decent man, Viserys only wishes to carry forward his grandfather’s legacy, but as we’ve learned from Game of Thrones, good men do not necessarily make for great kings.
Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. The king’s first-born child. She is of pure Valyrian blood, and she is a dragonrider. Many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything…but she was not born a man.
House of the Dragon will have its first season with ten episodes in 2022. The co-creators are George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal. With Martin as one of the co-creators, I’m looking forward to seeing the show. Condal and Miguel Sapochnik will be the showrunners and the executive producers with, thankfully, be Martin along with Sara Lee Hess, Ron Schmidt, and Vince Gerardis.
Many fans were disappointed at the last season of Game of Thrones. As a result, the last season isn’t in a lot of our head-cannons. It’s not in mine.
