Eddie Kaspbrak – Jared Leto

When I thought of hiring someone who can really drive home the idea of a neurotic and controlled individual, for some reason my mind jumped to Jared Leto. He admittedly doesn’t really resemble actor Jack Dylan too much, but from a performance angle, I can certainly see it.

Plus, it’s a side of Leto I’d be eager to see. In a lot of his movies he tends to play big personalities — and while Eddie is certainly a big personality on some level — on another he’s also the kind of person who gets walked on all the time. Following his scenery-chewing take as the Joker, I’d like to see Leto’s take on Eddie.

Mike Hanlon – Anthony Mackie

Mike Hanlon may very well be the surprise hit character of this next film. In the book, he’s the one character who stayed around in Derry while everyone went off to live their own lives, he stayed behind. It’s taken his toll on him too, and the beginning of the next film will see him in a dark place, according to the first film’s director.

One actor who I really think could convey that in a meaningful was is Anthony Mackie. Sure, he’s best known for his role as Falcon in the MCU, but he’s also shown his more dramatic acting chops in films like The Hurt Locker and We Are Marshall.

Beverly Marsh – Amy Adams

Poor Beverly has a long road ahead. While she may have been able to escape her troubled life in Derry as a kid, her abusive relationship with her father is something that never escapes her. As a result, she finds herself in one bad relationship after another. One actress who I think could really send that home is Amy Adams

Adams has a history of taking on plenty of challenging roles, and with Bev, I think she’ll have a lot to work with. Whether or not she’d be open for taking a role like this is another question altogether (with the exception of the DC movies, she tends to stick close to more of an indie sensibility with her films), but we think she’d knock it out of the park!
