James Gunn Confirms It’s A Wrap On Superman Filming

In a recent social media post James Gunn confirms Krypto the superdog is in Superman and that he's Kryptonian.

With now just under a year till release, James Gunn confirms it’s a wrap on Superman filming. The inaugural DCU movie has been filming across multiple locations from The U.S. to Norway over the last few months. Given how much we have seen from some of the location shoots you would imagine we know a lot.

However, Gunn was quick to point out that none of what we’ve seen ruins anything and he’s right. We still have no real idea on the overall plot of the movie, or what Lex is up to. Okay, there are one or two details (Utraman anyone) that I’m sure Gunn would have rather kept a lid on. However, 80% of this movie remains a mystery. Now principal has wrapped and the post-production stage begins it’s likely we will see far less. Though, this also may be the stage where we start to get rumors. There’s always someone willing to share what VFX shots they are working on.

Check out what Gunn had to say in his Instagram post below.

“And that’s a wrap.”

“God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life. I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much. And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered on a daily basis on the set has inspired me and thrust me forward when I felt too spent to move on my own. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It has been an honor. The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set – and for that I am forever grateful. ❤️ (Photo from our first week of shooting in Svalbard Norway.)”

So, filming is done, though I’m sure there will already be some planned reshoots, there always are. Though going by Gunn’s previous films these are rarely extensive. I’d guess some of the cast will be on notice to come back for a few weeks later this year or beginning of next once some of the editing has been completed.

So that’s it folks, by the time our planet goes round the Sun again we’ll be discussing how the movie was received by audiences and critics. I can imagine I speak for the majority of comic book fans when I say we hope this is the start of something better for these DC characters.

What do you think of the news as James Gunn confirms it’s a wrap on Superman filming? Are you hopeful for this one or not? Thoughts below as usual.
