DC Studios boss James Gunn has been talking about what’s next for Superman/Supergirl in the DCU across several interviews. We already covered Gunn confirming his next movie has a treatment, and it’s a direct follow up to Superman without being a direct sequel, i.e. Superman 2.
Now we have a few more words from the writer/director/executive.
First off, as you can see below, Gunn may be indicating this Super Family saga will consist of four movies.

“What is the long-term story I’m telling here? What is the story that I’m gonna tell about Superman over four movies?”
Of course, four could also just be an arbitrary number Gunn plucked out as an example. I’m sure the DCU is planned to continue for a long time if it remains successful.
Additionally, during a new interview with Chris Hardwick (via The Playlist), Gunn said,
“I can say that probably the next movie we’re gonna be making is the follow-up to ‘Superman,’ which I don’t want to get in too much detail on, but like that’s what’s probably the next film we’re making, I think.”
“Well, hopefully we’re making The Batman Part 2 before that, and then I think it’s the Superman follow-up. And then we have another TV show, which nobody knows about, which is going next.”

Speaking with Deadline, Gunn added,
“That treatment is done. I’m now into the screenwriting phase. I’m really happy with it,” Gunn shared. “We’re already prepping and figuring out where we’re shooting. That will not be too long.”
Pushed for story details, he added,
“It’s within the group of characters we’ve already met, and Superman is an important element of it.”
Of course the internet is speculating wildly on whether this is a Justice Gang film, or a Superman/Supergirl team up film. I guess we will just have to wait as I can’t see Gunn saying much more than he has done across these interviews already. Not yet anyway.
