The Marvel Universe is set to witness a thrilling new chapter in the life of Jean Grey with the launch of Phoenix, a new ongoing series by writer Stephanie Phillips and artist Alessandro Miracolo. This eagerly awaited series will debut on July 17, and fans can now preview the stunning covers that will accompany its first issue.
This week, Rise of the Powers of X #5 delivered a game-changing moment in the X-Men’s Krakoan Age. Jean Grey, reborn as the Phoenix, saved existence from an all-consuming AI Dominion in a battle that transcended time and space. This monumental event is just a glimpse of the cosmic adventures that await her in her solo series. Jean’s new journey will see her reigniting suns, suppressing black holes, and confronting formidable foes like Gorr the God Butcher and Thanos’ Black Order. She will also join forces with cosmic heroes such as Nova, Corsair, and Captain Marvel. Jean Grey is no longer confined to Earth; she is now the Phoenix, destined for intergalactic heroism and potentially, cataclysmic power.
Phoenix #1 will feature variant covers showcasing Jean Grey in breathtaking artwork by top industry talents like Rose Besch, Greg Land, Aka, and Peach Momoko. Additionally, a special Foil Variant Cover by the legendary Joe Quesada will highlight the launch.

In an exclusive interview with CBR, Phillips delved into the series’ themes, stating, “Thematically, I’m interested in exploring the interplay between human and cosmic forces that is happening within Jean. Some in the cosmic universe know her as Jean Grey, and some fear her as the Phoenix. I want us to explore how that will impact her mission as a hero in the stars. The book also looks at the hierarchy of the cosmos and where Jean fits into the hierarchy. There are some incredibly powerful entities out in space… what will they think of Jean’s presence as the Phoenix?”
Fans can now preview the covers and are encouraged to preorder Phoenix #1 at their local comic shops. For more information, visit Marvel.com.
