Hide and Seek by Joel David Moore
With Korean cinema and television making their way to American audiences, Korean remakes of these properties are also on their way. From zombie apocalypse Alive to currently in production Train to New York (Korean’s Train to Busan), Hide and Seek is the retelling from director and writer Joel David Moore.
The cast includes Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Vikings, The Tudors), Jacinda Barrett (The Human Stain, Poseidon), Sue Jean Kim (Bachelorette, First Reformed), Mustafa Shakir (Brawl in Cell Block 99, Luke Cage), and Joe Pantoliano (The Matrix, Bad Boys). Joel David Moore (Youth in Oregon) directed and wrote the screenplay based on the original South Korean movie Hide and Seek by Jung Huh.
Here is the official synopsis for Hide and Seek:
Jonathan Rhys Meyers stars in the intense psychological thriller filled with shocking twists and turns. After the death of his wealthy father, Noah seeks his outcast brother to make amends and share the family fortune. But the family harbors a dark secret and a series of cryptic clues will lead Noah on a terrifying trail to the truth that threatens to tear him apart from the ones he loves the most.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with director and writer Joel David Moore. He talked about choosing Hide and Seek for an American remake, the production set, and the advantage of being an actor-director to help the talent get into their characters.
Joel David Moore had his first major role as Owen Dittman in the 2004’s comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. He followed up with the comedy Grandma’s Boy, Terry Zwigoff’s Art School Confidential, and the cult horror hit Hatchet. In 2008, he had a guest role in the Fox series Bones as Colin Fisher. The following year, he joined the cast in James Cameron’s Avatar that became a blockbuster phenomenon, including its future sequels. His directorial debut came in 2007’s psychological thriller Spiral. He then followed up with Youth in Oregon and Killing Winston Jones.
Hide and Seek is in select theaters, On Demand and available digitally today.
