Well, it’s Monday, so what would any start of the week be without a hit of Joker set images and videos? As you may know, the standalone film from Todd Phillips (which takes place outside of the existing DC Extended Universe) is currently in production, and that makes it fodder for paparazzi to have their way with it, giving us plenty of opportunities to see the Clown Prince of Crime in his native habitat.
The next batch of images come from Just Jared and feature Joaquin Phoenix in full Joker attire — the same attire we’ve seen plenty of for the past few weeks already. Check out some of the photos down below and the full video above!

There is a batch of around 42 photos, and in them, we see Phoenix making his way through a subway. Admittedly, there’s nothing too exciting here apart from him pulling out a cigarette and taking a drag from it — though that’s no big surprise since we’ve already seen Zazie Beetz’s character smoking as well.
What is really evident in these pictures, however, is that the eye makeup is made to make Joker look like he’s crying. He may be smiling, but he’s crying at the same time, which is kind of a perfect take on this character. He may think life is funny, but only in the darkest, most horrifying ways.
Call me stupid, but this is the first time that the crying really came through to me, even if it was pretty obvious.
In regards to the video, it shows the whole scene in question, where the Joker looks to be leaving a crime scene, with the cops heading the opposite way as him. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a continuation of the scene we saw weeks ago with him leaving an actual subway car and pulling off a mask. Also, worth watching is the cop stumbling in the second. I hope that awful, soccer-like fall makes the final cut.
