Previously we brought you Barside Buzz that Jordan Peele had met with Marvel regarding an movie, well, it was X-Men, but it’s not happening, yet, and we also have more on Shawn Levy and Avengers 5. The rumor came from Jeff Sneider, whom last night revealed the specific movie on The Hot Mic with John Rocha. Sneider says it was X-Men that Peele discussed with Marvel, but that it didn’t work out. Or at least, no progress was made, yet.
I think most fan assumed it would be one of the supernatural projects coming up given Peele’s horror background. Therefore, finding out it was the X-Men reboot is a bit of a surprise. I guess there is a chance talks could advance over X-Men, or could turn towards another project. I guess it all depends how keen Peele is to get involved?
Another story we brought you this week around Marvel was that they were courting Shawn Levy as the director of Avengers 5. This came directly from Deadline, so not really a rumor. However Sneider says he’s heard Levy initially rejected the chance to direct Avengers 5, due to scheduling. However, with the many delays that movie has had, Marvel have gone back to Levy hoping he will agree this time.

Either way we have two movies we know need directors who currently don’t have directors. Marvel Studios needs names, and they need to right names. Neither of these projects are small budget experimental affairs. We’re talking about massive tent pole movies that fans are eager to see done right.
It’s also worth noting that BSL from One Take News also backed up Sneider about the Peele story, and that he met for X-Men without anything progressing.
Is it possible that directors are a little less eager to jump into the world of Marvel now it has taken a downwards turn? I guess we will need to see how it pans out for now.
What do you think as Jordan Peele met with Marvel about X-Men and it’s not happening yet? Or, the new information about Shawn Levy and Avengers 5? A always, leave any thoughts below.
