Why did Jordan Peele, former star of Key and Peele and the lead in Keanu, quit acting anyway? Was it simply because he’s had insane success writing and directing his first feature Get Out, which is nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars?
No, it was mostly because the last role he was offered was literally S–t.
Saturday, Peele won the best first-time director at the DGA Awards. There, he shared what movie helped him decide to stay behind the camera:
“The Emoji Movie actually helped me quit acting. I was offered the role of Poop. This is true. I would not make this up.”

Peele went on to say his original response to the offer was, “that’s f–cked up,” but he slept on it. When he called to ask his manager the next day how much he was being offered for the role, it was too late:
“[My manager said], ‘They’ve already given it to Sir Patrick Stewart.’ I was like, ‘F–k this.’”
Me thinks Peele made the right decision, as much as I will miss his delightful comedic performance on screen. I guess that’s a lesson for Hollywood, don’t offer a serious actor the role of a poo emoji… unless he is Patrick Stewart.
