Voice actors Kayleigh McKee and Anairis Quiñones rejoice that the backstory of Yuta and Rika is revealed in the prequel Jujutsu Kaisen 0.
In this anticipated anime film, the story follows the second-year students on how they came to their position before the popular anime series Jujutsu Kaisen. Not only the focus is on Yuta Okkotsu and Rika Orimoto, the classmates’ Maki Zen’in, Toge Inumaki, and Panda with their teacher Satoru Gogo are also in the prequel. Also, the anime reveals the events leading to the archvillain Suguru Geto.
Here is the official synopsis:
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 follows Yuta Okkotsu, a nervous high school student, who enrolls in the mysterious Tokyo Jujutsu High School under the guidance of Satoru Gojo after being haunted by the curse of his childhood friend. This film is based on Jujutsu Kaisen 0 manga, a prequel to the smash-hit supernatural series from Gege Akutami.
The prequel film is based on the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen that recently named Anime of the Year by the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2021. Crunchyroll has the entire series available subbed and dubbed.
The animation is by MAPPA under the direction of Sunghoo Park.
The Japanese voice cast includes Megumi Ogata as Yuta Okkotsu, Kana Hanazawa as Rika Orimoto, Mikako Komatsu as Maki Zen’in, Koki Uchiyama as Toge Inumaki, Tomokazu Seki as Panda, Yuichi Nakamura as Satoru Gojo, and Takahiro Sakurai as Suguru Geto.
The English voice cast includes Kayleigh McKee as Yuta Okkotsu, Anairis Quiñones as Rika Orimoto, Allegra Clark as Maki Zen’in, Xander Mobus as Toge Inumaki, Matthew David Rudd as Panda, Kaiji Tang as Satoru Gojo, and Lex Lang as Suguru Geto.
