Justice League 2 directed by Andy Muschietti? According to two different sources that’s the current Barside Buzz. First off we have KC Walsh of The GWW who retweeted a recent interview with Aquaman star Jason Momoa. In the interview Momoa says he’s very excited about something he’s been hoping for that he can’t yet talk about. As you can see Walsh claims this is Justice League 2 by Muschietti.

Muschiettt recently directed The Flash for DC. Despite the recent issues around star Ezra Miller, we know that test screenings for the movie have been very positive. Now, that isn’t the same as having fans take to a movie. However, perhaps it’s enough for DCU bosses Gunn and Safran to decide Muschietti is the person for JL2? One would assume that both Gunn and Safran have watched The Flash already after all.

I’ve never seen a Muschietti movie yet, having not watched the IT movies. Well, not the new versions anyway. Ergo, I won’t make any comments on how good an appointment this would be. That’s of course IF this story checks out. For now this is very much a rumor and you know by now that unless it’s a trade reporting it’s not yet a done deal. It probably does make sense for Gunn and Safran to focus on how they do a JL2 and when.

However one of the biggest issues with Justice League, or Zack Snyder’s Ultimate Slo-Mo Edition, was that it was too quick. At that point we hadn’t met Aquaman, Cyborg, or The Flash. Whilst, by the time JL2 comes around we will have two Aquaman movies and The Flash, we have since saw nothing from the teams two biggest players. Since Justice League there has been no more Superman, nor Batman. Well, the Justice League version of Batman at least. The Batman was great, but it does not connect in anyway to the DCU, as far as we know. My instinct says we need a Man of Steel sequel and a clear decision on who Batman is in the DCU before they push ahead with JL2.
That being said, while I could see the plans being made for JL2, I can’t see it being that close. Are we ever going to get a Justice League 2? You betcha azz we will, eventually. However, I guess we will wait to see whether this Andy Muschietti rumor checks out or not?
