UPDATE: Includes Flash poster and teaser.
Earlier this morning, Warner Bros decided to kick things into overdrive. For a few weeks now, outlets and fans alike have been speculating as to when we could expect a new Justice League trailer. Way the hell back last year, many outlets were shown footage from the upcoming superhero teamup flick, and on the heels of that widely publicized set visit, we were treated to a San Diego Comic-Con sizzle reel that showed off the new, lighter tone.
Admittedly, at the time, there was very little footage to go off of, and after the negative response to Suicide Squad, speculation once again ran rampant that perhaps Justice League may not be the film that fans were hoping it would be, despite the promising first look. Many months have passed since then, and while we’ve been treated to a few photos here and there, there wasn’t a lot else. The focus as of late has been very much on Wonder Woman, and given that that’s the next film in the franchise, who can blame them. However, with the film a mere eight months away, it seemed inevitable that we’d be getting a new trailer within the next couple months.
Earlier today, Warner Bros showed an Aquaman-focused teaser that heralded the impending trailer this Saturday, and a bit later, they dropped this Batman teaser and poster, as well as a Flash teaser and poster.
Check them out below.
While the video is pretty cool, I think the interesting standout here is the poster. By this point, we’re all used to the more gaffer tape-looking Batsuit from Batman v Superman, and heck even now some may be used to the look of the more metallic tactical Batsuit shared by Zack Snyder months back. The suit in the poster looks like something different altogether. Between the more plated look and the chrome-looking nature of the Bat symbol, this suit seems to fit the mold of a more optimistic, color Batman that some fans wanted after the dourfest of Batman v Superman.
Now check the Flash!
As fans of the The Flash on the CW, this version of the character has a hell of a lot to live up to, but we have to admit, Barry Allen looks pretty darn sick here. Though his time in Suicide Squad was but a brief moment, between that and this, I think we’re on the right track.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s (Henry Cavill) selfless act, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash — it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
