Kevin Feige Confirms Fantastic Four Shoot Date And 60’s Setting

Following some recent rumors Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirms the Fantastic Four shoot date and the 60's setting.

Following some recent rumors Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirms the Fantastic Four shoot date and the 60’s setting. In a recent appearance on Marvel’s new The Official Marvel Podcast, Feige announces when the movie will begin filming and confirms it is set in the 60’s of a different Earth from the MCU.

“We start shooting at the end of July,” revealed Feige. “The day after Comic-Con [International: San Diego] is the first day of filming on Fantastic Four.”

That means it’ll be filming by Monday, July 29th. Slightly contrary to rumors saying July 24th.

The 60’s setting was wished (into being?) by me years ago, and rumored to really be happening since the movie was announced. However, recent Marvel official posters also hinted that the 60’s setting was revealed.

“Yes, yes, very much so. It is a period,” confirmed Feige. The Marvel President then praised fans’ for working out this from the posters, “There were a lot of smart people, who noticed that that cityscape didn’t look exactly like the New York that we know, or that existed in the ’60s in our world. Those are smart observations, I’ll say.”

So it’s the 60’s but it’s not our 60’s in the film. That intrigues me, though it’s not how I’d have constructed it. However, I guess it fits with this Multiverse Saga that’s being told.

Feige went on to say how excited he is to properly bring the Fantastic Four into the MCU.

“I’m extremely excited by it because I think those characters are mainstays, are legendary pillars of the Marvel Universe that we’ve never gotten to play with or explore in a significant way outside of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and a few fun teases before, in the way that we’re doing it in that film. So I’m extremely excited for that.”

What do you think of his comments as Kevin Feige confirms the Fantastic Four shoot date and the 60’s setting? Thoughts below as always.
