Chris Rock is on board to direct Co-Parenting, a comedy film based on his original idea. Production has yet to start, but Rock has secured his star. Kevin Hart will play the role of a stay at home dad taking care of his children. In a gender reversal, the wife will play the role of a CEO and the family’s sole source of income. Co-Parenting will definitely have a solid foundation, as Blackish writer Yamara Taylor is set to pen the screenplay.
There will sure to be laughs had at Kevin Hart’s expense. Certainly when Hart’s yet to be cast breadwinner wife gives him the boot. The rest of the screenplay has been described as covering the fallout, estrangement, divorce, and custody battle between the husband and wife. The role of the wife has yet to be cast, but I’m hoping it’s someone who can deliver the good jokes as well as Kevin Hart. Tiffany Haddish comes to mind, as her meteoric rise and current go-to comedian should make her casting a no-brainer.

Co-Parenting is being produced by Will Packer, the same mogul who brought us Night School, and Girl’s Trip. Both of which starred Haddish. Both of which had her serving up unlikely comedy, and inspiring new sex trends. Grapefruit anybody?
In addition to Packer, Kevin Hart and John Cheng will also serve producing roles via HartBeat Productions, with Carli Heney and Chang overseeing. Also in the producer role will be James Lopez via Will Packer Productions. Executive vice president of production Kristin Lowe is producing for Universal.
