With Smith being such high ranking nerd royalty one has to wonder why he hasn’t been approached for one of the two big franchises mentioned above (though, in the past, he’s repeatedly expressed his disinterest and inability to take on a big scale project like the Star Wars or Marvel). Smith is a proven filmmaker and has a plethora of knowledge of both the Marvel and Star Wars universes. He also isn’t a stranger to the world of superheroes as he has directed episodes of CW’s The Flash, and Supergirl.
With Disney reportedly wanting to go with more proven talents in Star Wars moving forward, allowing Smith to leave a mark on a franchise he loves makes perfect sense. Personally, I would like to see the guy get a shot at both franchises, but more so, Star Wars. While it is possible Smith met with Disney for reasons unrelated to both Star Wars and Marvel, these two options seem the most likely, and bringing in someone like Kevin Smith could help to quell some of the divide the fandom has recently went through.
