In a recent interview with The Playlist, we find out Kit Harrington met Kevin Feige a year before he even knew about Eternals. The actor, who at the time would have been finishing off Game of Thrones went for a meeting with Feige. Harrington wasn’t given details, just that the next phase had a role coming up they were looking at him for.
“I had a general meeting with Kevin maybe a year prior to getting the call about this movie, just about their new phase, and that there’s something for me in it at some point. They had me in mind and that was an exciting meeting to take. And then I got a call about this movie from Nate [Moore], the producer, and I met with Chloe and they talked me through what this was about and the role that I’d fit into playing within it. And on that information, I said, “Yeah, I’d love to do that. Thank you.””
Harrington was asked if that included any promise of future projects?
“No, not really. Just to sort of, what you see in this movie is what I read or was told about. And I assumed that there could be a future there for me and it looks like it could be an interesting one. So, that’s why I jumped at it really.”

Harrington then went on to talk about what attracted him to this pitch.
“In this I represent humanity, right? I’m one of the maybe two characters in the movie that is a human that you get to know and is your insight into humans in this world, rather than the Eternals. And I liked on that part that he was a guy with a bit of a light touch, a nice guy, soft around the edges. Different from what I’ve played for a long time and also contemporary. But he has this secret that gets alluded to towards the end of the film. And then that secret is something that intrigued me going forward.”
One assumes that secret of Whitman’s is something related to how he ends up becoming Black Knight? Surely in the future of the MCU Whitman becomes a superhero in his own right?
What do you think of the fact Kit Harrington met Kevin Feige over a year prior to even hearing about Eternals? It begs the question, who is Feige meeting with now? Perhaps those who could play the Fantastic Four or the X-Men further down the line? As always, leave any thoughts below.
