Liz Olsen as Daenerys in Game of Thrones? I just can’t see it, and yet the actress did actually audition for the role back before Emilia Clarke was cast. Olsen says her audition was awful when speaking with THR recently.
“Yes, I auditioned for Game of Thrones. I auditioned for, like, the assistant to the casting director in a small room in New York with just a camera on me and them reading the script. I was doing the Khaleesi speech when she comes out of the fire. It was awful. I didn’t get a callback.”

Things certainly worked out well for Olsen after not getting that job. If Olsen had been cast as Daenerys, then there’s no way she would have been cast as Wanda in Avengers: Age of Ultron. At the time Olsen might have thought that would go nowhere, but look at her now. Wanda has become one of the central characters in the MCU.
Conversely, Emilia Clarke became a star in Game of Thrones and is also going to be be coming into the MCU in Secret Invasion. However, I’m sure Olsen wouldn’t trade the role of Wanda now if asked. Clarke was one of the best casting decisions made for Game of Thrones in my opinion. Though, the casting for that show was immense overall, I have to say. If only the writing for those last few season had ben up to par with the casting and production design.
