Lois Smith and Judy Greer are part of the cast in Uncle Frank. They are the characters that add some of the special, chirpy personality to the story.
The Synopsis:
In 1973, teenaged Beth Bledsoe (Sophia Lillis) leaves her rural Southern hometown to study at New York University where her beloved Uncle Frank (Paul Bettany) is a revered literature professor. She soon discovers that Frank is gay, and living with his longtime partner Walid “Wally” Nadeem (Peter Macdissi) — an arrangement that he has kept secret for years. After the sudden death of Frank‘s father — Beth’s grandfather — Frank is forced to reluctantly return home for the funeral with Beth in tow, and to finally face a long-buried trauma that he has spent his entire adult life running away from.
Judy Greer attended Theatre School at DePaul University. Just days after graduating she received her first on screen role in 1998 comedy, Kissing a Fool. Ever since she has been juggling both television series and film. Greer has been part of television shows like, Californication, Mad Love, Two and a Half Men, and Arrested Development. In addition, she has participated in several major picture films like, Ant-Man, Jurassic Park, 13 Going on 30, and 27 Dresses. Voice cover has also been ongoing in her resume with Family Guys, Ask the Storybots on Netflix, Archer, American Dad! and Let’s Go Luna. In 2014 she wrote her life story in, “I Don’t Know What You Know Me From: My Life as a Co-Star.” She was seen earlier this year in the musical, Valley Girl.

Lois Smith has several decades of acting experience. Smith’s career started by doing theater in New York. Shortly after added television drama and films. Her film debut was in 1955 for the film, East of Eden with James Dean. She has been seen in films like Five Easy Pieces, Fatal Attraction, Fried Green Tomatoes, Twister, Minority Report, The Nice Guys and Lady Bird. At the age of 90 she continues to do what she does best and soon will be seen in The French Dispatch.
I had the opportunity to speak to Lois Smith and Judy Greer about Uncle Frank. Smith shared how happy she is to be a part of a double coming of age story. Greer says she is honored to be a part of a movie about acceptance.
