Loki Season 2 Review – MCU’s Best Disney+ Series Yet – Brilliant!

Here is my Loki Season 2 review and truthfully this was brilliant! I thoroughly enjoyed what for me was the MCU’s best Disney+ series yet. So let’s get into some Spoiler Free thoughts. For a start I’ll say, I really enjoyed Loki Season 1, and perhaps that factors into my love of Season 2. Therefore, I’d say if you didn’t like Loki Season 1, perhaps you won’t enjoy this? For me, I felt like Season 2 was overall the superior Season. I’ll also point out that Season 1 and Season 2 are intrinsically connected. Season 2 is not just ‘what happened next’. Character arcs are carried forward and completed to some satisfaction that began in Season 1.

Most important when it comes to those character arcs is Loki himself. Loki’s journey from Episode 1 of the show to this Season 2 finale has been impressive. I won’t detail why and how for spoilers, but ultimately where we find Loki at the end compared to where he came from, is a drastic difference. In my opinion, Loki earns this development over the course of both seasons and faces some tough situations which mold him into something new. It was a satisfying payoff to Loki’s arc.

The best thing about Loki Season 1 was the 1-1 scenes with Loki and Morbius, or Loki and Sylvie. Season 2 has these in spades, but the overall group dynamics feel on another level. Ke Huy Quan has been away from Hollywood for too long and his presence really helps Season 2. OB (as his character is called) is one of those instantly likable characters and how the established main cast all begins to ‘fit together’ is rewarding from where they began.

If Season 1’s finale was about the decisions of Sylvie and Loki picking up the pieces, then Season 2 ends with Loki making big decision and others being left to pick up the pieces. We also have Jonathan Majors once again impressive as Kang, or in this case, two of his variant’s He Who Remains and Victor Timely, who could not be farther apart in terms of personalities.

However, what impresses me most about Loki, especially season 2, is how low budget it all feels. I know that’s usually a bad thing, but let me explain what I mean. Actors wages aside, Loki can be filmed in a relatively small set, with 1-2 days of outdoors location shooting based on what we see. Yes there are VFX, and they are actually well done here. However, there’s not VFX in every scene of every episode and that cuts down the budget. Instead this is a well written character piece which with some fancy props, you could essentially pull off on stage.

I am impressed with head writer Eric Martin, who did write much of Season 1 alongside Michael Waldron. As we know, Waldron is no longer writing Avengers: Secret Wars. Ergo, I would not be against Martin getting a shot at the big one. Loki Season 2 is well written and it’s very Multiversal, perhaps even a game changer.

In my opinion Loki Season 2 is far and away the best TV series the MCU has produced for Disney+. It’s also superior to most movies for me since Endgame. I don’t know if we will ever get a Season 3, maybe we don’t need one right now? However, I will be excited if it does get announced.

GRADE: A+

That’s it folks, a very happy fan. Oh, and Loki may now be my favorite MCU character ahead of Iron Man and Cap.

As always, let me know what you think of my Loki Season 2 review or leave your own review below. Is Loki one of MCU’s best shows?
