Looking Like Aragorn Will Be Recast For LOTR: The Hunt For Gollum | Barside Buzz

Today we are sharing some Barside Buzz that the role of Aragorn will be recast with a younger actor for the upcoming LOTR: The Hunt for Gollum.

Today we are sharing some Barside Buzz that the role of Aragorn will be recast with a younger actor for the upcoming LOTR: The Hunt for Gollum. The role was originally played, admirably by Viggo Mortensen in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. However, that was a long time ago and the movie in development now is set during the events of the first film The Fellowship of the Ring. Ergo, Aragorn should look like Mortensen did 20 years ago, not now.

Yet, there were strong rumors that all the old cast were being courted back for this one. Serkis is back as Gollum and also directing this time, and it’s reported both Elijah Wood and Ian McKellen will reprise their roles as Gandalf and Frodo. Though Frodo himself is not involved at all in the story they are trying to adapt here.

I mean, that ‘story’ was a coupe of pages in the books where Gandalf explained what happened to Frodo. They could frame this film as Gandalf relaying the story to Frodo, like a bit of the movies we just didn’t see. At the same time though, if we then cut to the actual story and it’s a different actor playing Aragorn, it won’t exactly fit seamlessly.

Anyhoooo…. The new rumor around this film is that Viggo will not be coming back and his part, which is major, will be filled by new shoes.

From what I hear Knight Edge Media are reliable for LOTR news and I have always found ViewerAnon reliable also.

My feelings on this film remain the same. I don’t get it, it’s just WB cashing in on the licence they have. They’ve picked a part of the story Tolkien never thought worthy enough to tell in detail and so it happened ‘off page’. It’s Hollywood nostalgia berries again. Additionally like the repulsive Rings of Power, we don’t actually have any Tolkien written dialogue. Therefore, whoever the writers are, they are tasked with making the film’s dialogue sound Tolkien like with little to work with.

Hollywood has a way of taking something special and making it no longer special. Star Wars was a special franchise until Disney, Lord of the Rings was also, but has been sullied like the rest in recent years with poor adaptations, starting with The Hobbit trilogy.
