Los Frikis | Héctor Medina, Eros de la Puente and Adria Arjona on Cuban AIDS Story and Punk Music

In Cuba, the youth needed to do everything and anything to survive during the Communist rule, even injecting themselves with the AIDS virus in Los Frikis.

This is an unbelievable chapter in Cuban history as particular punk teens seek out survival and their music in a commune for the sick.

Here is the official synopsis:

Starring Adria Arjona, Héctor Medina, and newcomer Eros de la Puente. Los Frikis is a poignant and electrifying look at a little-known chapter of Cuban history in the early 1990s, where a group immersed in the punk subculture—known as the “Frikis”—did the unthinkable to find freedom of expression in the immense challenges and created their own sanctuary amidst the chaos. Inspired by true events, Los Frikis captures the raw energy of a generation yearning to be heard and offers an unflinching glimpse into the power of community.

The film is written and directed by Michael Schwartz and Tyler Nilson (The Peanut Butter Falcon).
