Religious movies can sometimes take themselves too seriously. However, they are proven to be successes.
In the past decade, religious films such as God’s Not Dead, Heaven is for Real, I Still Believe, or even Breakthrough, have similar religious-themed stories, but on a significant budget. In comparison to other films, they are often perceived as cheaply made, the basic story, and quasi-acting effort. Yet, these films generate significant profits, accolades, and attract modest reputable actors.
In Faith Ba$ed, the comedy mocks this film industry with two men making a low budget Christian-faith film starring 90s TV actors in order to make millions. They soon set out a mission to make a film “A Prayer in Space,” a story of the first prayer ever to be prayed…..in space.
The film stars Luke Barnett and Tanner Thomason. Also, it features a well known supporting cast with Lance Reddick (John Wick), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Margaret Cho (All American Girl), David Koechner (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy), Christoph Sanders (Last Man Standing), Carly Craig (Role Models), and Richard Riehle (Casino). Vincent Masciale directed the movie from a script penned by Barnett.
