MandoVerse On Disney+ On Hold Till Ahsoka Season 2 Plus More Star Wars Rumors | Barside Buzz

According to some new Barside Buzz the MandoVerse on Disney+ is essentially on hold until they assess Ahsoka Season 2, plus more Star Wars rumors. The information in the title comes from Daniel RPK on his Patreon. Daniel claims that,

“Right now, no other shows in the Mandoverse are planned until they see how Ahsoka performs.”

The Mandalorian itself has now become a movie and I imagine its box office performance will also dictate what happens next with Star Wars. Far as any rumors go, there are no signs of any live-action Star Wars shows in development beyond Ahsoka Season 2. There are several animated projects in the works. Therefore, one wonders whether Star Wars new strategy will be to stick to movies for live-action and animation for Disney+.

Daniel does however claim he’s heard a horror series is in development, but that could well be animated for all we know?

So what’s next?

If we remember back to the Kathleen Kennedy situation, rumors were that she would leave her Lucasfilm role in January, 2026. Is it possible Lucasfilm is waiting for a power transfer before announcing anything new, or even a direction? There’s been little press speculation lately, but it’s not like Kennedy didn’t say she was leaving. Others rumors had pointed to the fact Kennedy wanted to get the Rey Sequel (New Jedi Order era) from Obaid-Chinoy underway before she stepped out of the presidential role. That film still doesn’t look any closer to going into production and is once again in the hands of a new writer.

It’ll be interesting to see how long it takes for the film to get underway and for Kennedy to leave. Perhaps we will have to wait for the new president to decide the future of Star Wars?

I think The Mandalorian and Grogu will make a profit, because I suspect the budget isn’t crazy. However, I don’t think it will have the success that enables the MandoVerse to just slide into the movie realm. Maybe Filoni’s MandoVerse Movie is the next step anyway to close it all off? Or, is that even still happening?

The Mandalorian and Grogu is out this May, Starfighter is out a year later in 2027 and we should get Ahsoka Season 2 sometime before the end of this year. The only other live-action projects we are aware of are the aforementioned Obaid-Chinoy helmed Rey Sequel, The MandoVerse movie from Filoni and the new trilogy in development from Simon Kinberg. None of which seems to have any signs about when they may get made if at all.
