Mark Hamill plays coy on whether he will make an appearance or not in the Star Wars Rey movie currently in development. Hamill has been doing this a long time folks. Therefore, we get absolutely no hint from the veteran Star Wars actor at all. In a recent interview Hamill was asked whether he could appear in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Star Wars movie. So far we know that movie will feature the return of Rey, seeing her trying to rebuild the Jedi Order.
Fans have speculated that Luke could appear to trey to provide some wisdom in the movie. That would mean another return for Hamill. However, when Hamill spoke to Esquire recently, he simply indicated that whether he was, or not, he wouldn’t be allowed to say and would not do so anyway. Check the quotes out first.
“One thing you learn working for Lucasfilm: everything is confidential,” Hamill explained in a recent interview with Esquire. “Everything is confidential. So, if I were involved, I wouldn’t be able to tell you. And if I were not involved, I wouldn’t be able to tell you. So, I don’t know. We’ll all find out together, I guess.”

There have been some rumors recently that both Hamill and Christensen would appear in deceased form to speak with Rey. However, so far those sources are not ones I’ve learned to trust. That being said, I’ll predict right now that Hamill at least turns up. That’s another reason I don’t trust the leaks are leaks, because it seems an obvious win for Lucasfilm. Fans want to see Luke Skywalker and they have an opportunity to bring him back. It would be a literal no-brainer at this point to not pay Hamill to tun up for a couple scenes and earn some cash. Luke sells tickets.
As for Christensen, it would be weird to see Hamill and him on screen together considering Hamill is old enough to be his father. How would you explain that? I guess they did use Christensen for the edited end of Return of the Jedi. However, I never liked that move either at the time. That’s all being said I would actually be keen to see Anakin as a Force Ghost more than Luke almost. Both together and interacting would be quite the sight.
Just to be clear though, there’s no hints here either way from Hamill, and no legitimate rumors. I’m just saying they’d be crazy not to use Luke and Anakin if they can find a way to make it work.
What do you think of his comments as Mark Hamill plays coy on whether he will make an appearance in the Star Wars Rey movie? Do you agree with me that they’d be daft to not use Hamill again? Thoughts as always, below in the usual spot.
