Argentina film La Dosis (The Dose) is a complex thriller that two characters enforces euthanasia but for differing reasons. Director Martin Kraut creates this compelling storyline that goes beyond the debate of euthanasia and into the ideas of morality and paranoia.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Marcos is an experienced nurse who works the night shift of a private clinic. He is successful and professional, though it is soon revealed that he uses his position to help suffering patients find early peace. A new nurse in the clinic, Gabriel, shakes the sector: he is young, intelligent, beautiful, and seduces everyone. He soon deciphers that Gabriel also dabbles in euthanasia, though for different reasons. This revelation forces him to confront Gabriel and Marcos knows that only by exposing his own true identity will he be able to stop him.
The cast includes Carlos Portaluppi (Vidas robadas, Easy Ball), Ignacio Rogers (Esteros, Like a Crashed Plane), and Lorena Vega (Kryptonite, El Bosque de los Perros). Martin Kraut directed and wrote the movie.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta talked with director and writer Martin Kraut on this euthanasia slow-burn thriller. We discussed about the lack of policy of euthanasia in Argentina, the color palettes used in the film, and the motivations of the characters.
For Martin Kraut, The Dose is his feature film directorial debut. Previously, he directed a short film titled Que miren.
La Dosis (The Dose) releases today on VOD and digitally. The film previously screened at the 2020 Rotterdam International Film Festival, 2020 Fantasia International Film Festival, and the 2021 Fantasia International Film Festival.
