This pre-festive Barside Buzz deals with Marvel’s future arcs, including the likes of mature projects, quality over quantity, Devil’s Reign, Hulks and Stark Tech, Young Avengers, Witches & Vampires and whatever happens with Kang. That is all covered recently in an article by TCC. The rumors attempt to lift the lid on some of the smaller story arcs being built within the MCU.
We will start with mature projects as the outlet says Echo is only the first of several mature projects on the horizon. Marvel is ready to allow that rating for the projects that most suit it. They do list some projects such as Echo, Daredevil: Born Again, the Untitled Deadpool movie, Marvel Zombies and they also say Thunderbolts. However, that claim has been rebuked by some other insiders, namely CWGST, who says Thunderbolts is PG-13.
The outlet then goes on to say Marvel wants to now focus on quality over quantity. Something one would hope is true, but certainly has not been the case since Avengers: Endgame. I guess we will find out.
“One measure they plan to incorporate is allowing directors and writers to tell the stories they seek to tell, while relaxing the need for connectivity with other corners of the MCU. The goal is to develop projects that are well received and can stand out on their own, while also ensuring “rewatchability” amongst fans.”
Devil’s Reign/ Hulk’s and Stark Tech
TCC also spoke about the upcoming Kingpin arc which they lick to the Devil’s Reign comic book run. In other words, Kingpin becoming mayor, criminalising vigilantes and going after them. As you know this path has already moved forward and will so in the near future. Echo, Daredevil: Born Again and even rumors that this will culminate in Spider-Man 4.
This the outlet says is the street level arc being built.
As for Hulk’s and Stark Tech, TCC says this arc revolves around nations weaponizing against metahumans. Hulk experiments, Vibranium, Adamantium, and Stark Tech. This should link together the likes of Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Iron Heart, World War Hulk (rumored). There are also connections here to Stark Tech which TCC says will get its resolution between Iron Heart and the Armor Wars movie. They say after people using Stark Tech badly, and the rise of Damage Control being dicks, these two projects will resolve that arc by having people using that tech for good again.
The Next Gen – Young Avengers
Unless you had your eyes closed, we all saw this narrative being built up. Recent rumors before this article had many insiders claiming a Young Avengers movie was in development. Here is who TCC has heard may be circling this team.
‘Multiple sources have already confirmed to us that Kamala Khan, Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, America Chavez, Billy Maximoff, and Tommy Maximoff are expected to be a part of the Young Avengers lineup. Some sources have mentioned other possible members, including Theodore Altman, Axl Heimdallson, RiRi Williams, Eli Bradley, and Skaar. However, these members in particular were only confirmed by some sources, not all.’
Witches, Vampire’s and Werewolves
TCC says that Wanda’s arc continues through Agatha All Along (yes it’s rumored it got another new title). However they also mention VisionQuest and this all going into a unnamed Wanda movie, which is a rumor we have all heard before.
On the spookier side we also have the rise of the Midnight Suns. We know about the Blade movie coming and Werewolf by Night and Man Thing have already made their debuts as has Moon Knight. There will also be a connection here to Iron Heart and the upcoming Marvel Zombies. Here is what TCC heard.
‘Some sources have mentioned that Lilith or Mephisto villains have been considered the big bad of this arc. One source has mentioned that the potential lineup for the Midnight Sons features the current Sorcerer Supreme, Wong, as one of the leaders of the team, alongside Mahershala Ali’s Blade.’
TCC also talks about how Mutants will become a big story going forward. However we have heard from multiple sources this week already that the Mutant Saga will be the next big overarching saga for the MCU. In other words, we kinda know this already. They do however say there could be a Mutant focused movie before we get to Secret Wars. One idea that seems to be getting some attention they says is Avengers vs X-Men, which to be fair seems like it will have to happen one day.
What about Kang?
So what about Kang? Here is what TCC has to say:
‘Marvel’s plan for him is the equivalent of sweeping it under the rug. Marvel will instead focus on other storylines while they take their time to build up Kang and the Multiverse again slowly behind the scenes. Some sources have even gone beyond that, to state that Marvel doesn’t intend to address him directly until we are practically near the end of the Multiverse Saga.’
‘Sources state that there have been discussions and plans for other multiversal villains to step up to the plate in the upcoming phases. This is, of course, in an attempt to take control of the multiversal-sized vacuum left in the absence of Kang the Conqueror and his variants. But make no mistake, for better or worse, Marvel ultimately still intends to close out the Multiverse Saga with a Kang Variant as their final villain.’

However Jeff Sneider has doubled down in this week’s The Hot Mic to say anyone saying Kang is still on the table we should question. He is saying Kang is done and won’t be recast, or at least won’t be the big bad.
What do you think of these rumors then folks. This is supposed to be Marvel’s future arcs, including the likes of mature projects, quality over quantity, Devil’s Reign, Hulks and Stark Tech, Young Avengers, Witches & Vampires and whatever happens with Kang.
