As we head into San Diego Comic-Con, the Marvel Studios train keeps on trucking, going at a consistently breakneck pace to get two to three films out per year. Perhaps even more exciting than them just getting out “new” films is them exploiting new characters. With films like Black Panther being real standouts during the last phase, I’m always excited to see them interpret new heroes for the big screen.
One of the more exciting characters on the horizon is Marvel Studios’ first Asian superhero Shang-Chi. We’ve known for a while that this movie has been on the horizon, with actors like Donnie Yen already rumored to take on important roles.

But, of course, you can’t have a film without a director of photography. Discussing Film is reporting that Marvel Studios has hired Bill Pope to take on the role. The man is a huge vet in the industry, with his work including The Matrix, Baby Driver, The Jungle Book, and more recently, Alita: Battle Angel. All excellent looking films, and all working with amazing directors.
As of this writing, this is just a rumor, but given Marvel Studios’ track record, this seems like a very likely get for them. How do you feel about Bill Pope potentially joining Shang-Chi? Let us know your thoughts down below!
