Matt Smith To Play Military General In Star Wars: Starfighter | Barside Buzz

Last weekend we found out he was cast in the film, now Barside Buzz says Matt Smith plays a military General in Star Wars: Starfighter. Sources from Deadline who broke the story had indicated Smith would be the main villain of the film. Fans have wondered since whether this could be a Dark Sider or just a conventional villain. Well in his latest newsletter in The InSneider, Jeff Sneider says The Force is not with Matt Smith this time.

“I’m told that the Force won’t be with Smith, who is playing some kind of military general in the film, which takes place five years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker.”

For anyone disappointed I’d be saying, what did you really expect? I thought this was obvious given we are only 5 years post-TROS. Don’t get me started on that film, but the point is there’s no more Sith, again. Rey is the only Jedi and even if she did begin a school she hasn’t had much time for someone to go bad already.

There’s are rumors Rey may make a cameo appearance of sorts in the film. Perhaps as a tease for what is to come next? However, it is not thought that the film will rely heavily on what came before or will come after. The idea seems to be a self contained story set in the post-ROTS sandbox. Then again for all we know the Macguffin could be getting a Force sensitive kid to Rey’s school, or under her protection? We really have no idea, other than a rumor Gosling’s character is transporting a kid somewhere.

What do you think of this rumor that Matt Smith plays a military General in Star Wars: Starfighter? Leave any thoughts below as per usual.
