In Breaking News in Yuba County, Mila Kunis and Juliette Lewis play competing journalists getting the scoop due to a woman’s husband’s disappearance. Their actions lead to dark and twisted turns for the housewife.
Kunis and Lewis stars alongside Allison Janny (Mom), Awkwafina (Ocean’s Eight), Regina Hall (Girls Trip), Jimmi Simpson (Date Night), Clifton Collins Jr. (Star Trek), and Ellen Barkin (The Fan). Tate Taylor (The Help) directed the film from a script written by Amanda Idoko (Apple TV+’s Central Park).
Here’s the official synopsis of the film:
When an overlooked pencil pusher (Janney) catches her husband in bed with another woman, the shock causes him to die of a heart attack so she buries his body and takes advantage of the growing celebrity status that comes from having a missing husband. But she quickly finds herself in over her head, dodging cops, and criminals, all while trying to keep the truth from her half-sister (Kunis), a local news anchor who’s desperate for a story, and a relentless local policewoman (Hall).

LRM Online’s Gig Patta talked with actresses Mila Kunis and Juliette Lewis on their roles in the film.
Mila Kunis always knew she wanted to be an actress and started acting since she was a child. Her first acting job was when she played Melinda in Make a Wish, Molly in 1995. She was mostly known for playing Jackie Burkhart on That ‘70s Show. Her resume even expanded into lending her voice in the animation Family Guy. Since then, she starred or co-starred in popular and known films, such as Max Payne, The Book of Eli, Black Swan, Friends with Benefits, Ted, Oz the Great and Powerful, Jupiter Ascending, and Bad Moms.
Juliette Lewis is one of the most talented actors in the industry. In 1991, she stunned audiences as Danielle Bowden in Cape Fear, in which she received an Oscar nomination. She also started young as an actor in films with National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Crooked Hearts, Too Young to Die, and the television show The Wonder Years. Her versatile style of acting allows her to adapt to any character for films. Her filmography included Strange Days, From Dusk Till Dawn, Old School, and even Starsky & Hutch. In 2004, she even pursued a music career for a few years with publishing two full-length albums and performed at many concert tours.
Breaking News in Yuba County is in select theaters this Friday.
