With the current writers’ strike and the looming actor’s strike tonight, one of the most significant sticking points of the negotiations is the usage of artificial intelligence in Hollywood.
At San Diego Comic-Con International 2023, a small group of voice actors will discuss the usage of artificial intelligence at the panel “AI in Entertainment: The Performer’s Perspective” on Saturday, July 22nd, from 10:30 to 11:30 in room 29CD.
The recent media coverage of ChatGTP launched plenty of discussion of AI, from writing memos, sending e-mails, and even to the college curriculum of it writing essays and taking exams.
The genuine fear is that AI is replacing Hollywood’s current workforce to write and edit scripts and even replace actors on the big and small screens.
Despite the strikes, the National Association of Voice Actors (NAVA) and SAG/AFTRA will hold a discussion at San Diego Comic-Con International 2023 with the attendees on this very topical subject.
The panel participants will address the legal structures used in some areas and the creation of new standards for performers and producers to collaborate on great products while protecting the individual rights to performance and publicity.
Also, the panel will address the recent controversy that the groundbreaking technology can replicate their voices and movies that feeds the machine to create entirely new characters.
